About Us
Prescription/Referral from an authorized medical professional:
The prescription is necessary to support the medical necessity for orthotic treatment. Critically important is the independence of the prescriber from the provider. Certified Orthotists do not prescribe, they are providers.
Assessment and Patient Evaluation:
A thorough clinical assessment and patient evaluation is completed using standardized tests and analyses and by collecting patient-specific characteristics that will be used to determine the appropriate orthotic treatment.
Treatment Planning:
The Certified Orthotist analyzes, evaluates and integrates information gathered in the Patient Assessment & Evaluation. Using this information a orthotic treatment is developed which may include the provision of a new orthosis, restoration/improvement of function of a current orthosis, or referral to other health care professionals.
Measure & Fit:
Certified Orthotists take measurements, scans or casts of patients for OTS or Custom orthopaedic bracing. During the orthosis fitting appointment, they will ensure optimum fit and function of the device. Education is provided to the patient on use and care.
Treatment Implementation and Follow-Up:
Review orthotic treatment with patient subsequent to original care. Evaluate fit and function of orthosis, make necessary adjustments to orthosis and re-educate patient as necessary. Refer to or consult with other health care professionals, as necessary.
